It is no small task doing things that have never been done before and on top of that with the largest correctional department in the world. With that said, the impact this project will have on creating access to fresh food in prison while developing a skill set in one of the fastest growing industries in the world will be profound.

Project Brief: Impact Justice stands for change in the criminal justice system and the work they do does not only exist within the walls of prisons, but also outside. As a carry over from the work we are doing at CCWF, we are also deploying a similar model at Impact Justices’ corporate HQ. We are transforming the first floor of the corporate HQ into an indoor vertical farm in the heart of Downtown Oakland. This location will serve as a space for formerly incarcerated / system impacted women and men to come and learn a new skill set within controlled environment agriculture while also producing food, creating access in a historically characterized food desert/swamp which is West Oakland.
